Como he explicado en mi último post, aquí, en EEUU nos hay signos indiscutibles de recesión. Como parece que para algunos son más importantes las curvas de interés que lo que apuntan gente como Krugman, Cecchetti Frenkel et al, vuelvo a referenciar ese post donde se exponían razones para pensar que NO hay recesión en EEUU. No todo es curvas de tipos y otros indicadores financieros.

Hago especial incapie en un indicador que no ha fallado hasta ahora, según MoneyandBanking.

The real-time Sahm index is the better choice: it identifies the start of a recession as the month in which the three-month moving average of the unemployment rate rises by at least 0.5 percentage points above its 12-month low (see our earlier note). To be sure, the unemployment rate is a lagging, not a leading, indicator. Yet, unemployment rates are reported shortly after the end of each month, and revisions are both infrequent and small. Partly as a result, since 1960, the real-time Sahm index not only has picked out each NBER recession, but generally has done so early in the downturn (on average, within four months of the start). It also has provided zero false signals: that is, there have been no “Sahm red alerts” without a 

Por cierto, hemos sabido que el empleo ha vuelto a aumentar y que el paro ha bajado a 3,5%. Más difícil de superar el índice Sahm...

Es decir, que esto deja muy pocas probabilidades a que EEUU esté  hoy en recesión. Lo digo por el empeño de Hugo Ferrer y Niko Garnier (a los que sigo con admiración) en ello. Claro, que repitiendo mucho una cosa, acaba siendo verdad. 

Como decía Nietzsche, “no hay como el tiempo para revestir una cosa de la aureola del prestigio”.
